Job summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Class 8 Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team in Collegedale, TN. You will repair and maintain heavy duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, and related equipment, conducting diesel engine diagnostics and electrical system checks.

The ideal candidate has 6–12 months of garage or vocational training, excellent documentation and teamwork skills, and the ability to work overtime or travel for training as needed.

Qualifications

  • 6–12 months experience in a garage environment or vocational school.
  • Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and blueprints.
  • Good judgment, teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to document and process information.
  • Mention of tools to support Class 8 truck/ trailer repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Repair and maintain heavy duty trucks, trailers, yard tractors, and related equipment.
  • Conduct diagnostic checks on electrical and fuel systems.
  • Perform repair work on ABS, air brake systems, differentials, transmissions and suspensions.
  • Travel for training and process-improvement events as needed.

Pay

$25.42 - $42.43/ hour, depending on experience and qualifications
Plus $1.00 / hour. shift premium for 2nd shift hours

Schedule

2nd Shift
Week 1: Sunday - Wednesday, 1:45 p.m. - 12:15 a.m.
Week 2: Monday - Thursday, 1:45 p.m. - 12:15 a.m.

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Class 8 Truck Technician to join our Fleet Maintenance team. This position will be conducting repairs and maintenance on gas and/or diesel engines and trailers. The ideal candidate has the potential to work, learn and grow with us throughout his/her career.

Technician will repair and maintain:
  • heavy duty trucks
  • trailers
  • yard tractors
  • cars / pickups / vans
  • truck garage and equipment
Required Qualifications
  • 6-12 months experience in a garage environment or vocational school
  • Capable of reading schematics, wiring diagrams, blue prints, etc.
  • Good perception, judgment and decision making skills
  • Good oral and written communication skills and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to document and process information
  • Must have tools to support general Class 8 truck and trailer repairs
  • Capable of performing tire and wheel break-down, build up, balancing and alignment
  • Knowledgeable in performing diagnostic checks on electrical systems
  • Able to diagnose fuel and lubrication system problems and make repairs
  • Capable of performing repairs and adjustments on tractor, trailer ABS and air brake systems, differentials, clutches, drive line, suspensions, transmissions and steering
  • Experience in performing trailer repairs
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting 50+ pounds on a regular basis
  • Must have or be able to obtain McKee Foods LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license within 90 days on the job (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
  • Must have or be able to obtain ASE Medium/Heavy Duty certifications based on the pay level at the time of hire as prescribed in the technician's syllabus. The required certification must be obtained within one year of the hire date.
  • Must have EPA approved air conditioning certification or obtain within 30 days on the job
  • Must be able to work overtime, or other shifts when necessary
  • Willing to travel for training, and other process improvement events
Preferred Qualifications
  • Two years' experience performing heavy duty truck and trailer maintenance or equivalent education with a Diploma in Diesel and Truck Technology from an accredited Technical School
  • General computer knowledge and skills
  • Certified Welder
  • Current Commercial Driver's License
