Job summary

Rush Truck Centers is seeking a Fabricator in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves layout, fabrication, fixturing and welding or installation of weldments for truck and trailer chassis, with a strong emphasis on reading design drawings and ensuring quality workmanship.

Responsibilities include preparing components for revisions, updating bills of materials, scheduling procedures and parts, and maintaining safe grounding during welding.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years welding and vehicle fabrication experience; DoT inspection desirable.
• AWS welding certifications required for work assigned.
• Maintain at own expense all hand and small power tools.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, lay out, fixture and weld or install weldments for truck/trailer chassis per drawings.
• Prepare and/or modify components for current or revised applications.
• Create and update bills of materials; provide feedback to parts, operations and engineering.
• Read and understand job orders; schedule work procedures and parts.
• Demonstrate high proficiency and cost effectiveness to minimize re-work.
• Understand Class 7/8 trucks, chassis, engine and driveline; torque settings.
• Understand installation of hydraulic pumps, motors and piping; ensure proper grounding during welding.
• Know welding gases, securing bottles, hoses and regulators; safe use of propane for forklifts.
