Job summary

The Salvation Army Front Royal Corps is seeking a Store/Donations Driver to support daily operations in Front Royal, VA. You will drive a heavy-duty truck to pick up and dispose of donations, ensure routes and vehicle maintenance, and help prepare items for display and storage.

Requirements include a High School diploma or GED and at least one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van. The job involves outdoor work in various weather and occasional community travel.

• Valid State Driver's License required.

Responsibilities

• Review scheduled pickups to confirm day, week, and location.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews scheduled pick-ups to ensure they are scheduled for the correct day of the week and geographical location.
• Drives to the dump and metal recycling center to dispose of non-useable donations.
• Ensures the truck meets the scheduled maintenance and performs operators maintenance in accordance with established standards.
• Selects items suitable for store display and distributes same to appropriate area for further sorting and/or pricing; discards items in accordance with established procedures.
• Packs items in boxes and marks boxes accordingly; assists in transporting boxes to appropriate storage area.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Work requires driving a vehicle daily with exposure to the outdoors where there are physical discomforts associated with changes in weather such as rain, cold, snow, heat or discomforts associated with noise, dust, dirt, and the like. Ability to lift (or obtain assistance lifting) moderately heavy (30-60 lbs.) Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of spoken words, communicating orally with others accurately and clearly. Position requires travel within the community and to participate in off-site Center events.
