Job summary

The Salvation Army Morgantown Corps is seeking a dependable Truck Driver to join our Morgantown team. This part-time role (28 hours weekly) involves picking up donated goods, delivering merchandise, assisting donors and customers, and helping ensure resources reach those in need.

You will work with a friendly team, build relationships with donors, and support programs throughout the community in a safety-conscious environment. Benefits are provided.

Qualifications

  • Valid driver's license.
  • High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent).
  • Experience driving a large van, box truck, or heavy-duty truck.
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Pick up donated goods from homes, businesses, and partners.
  • Safely transport donations and merchandise to designated locations.
  • Deliver furniture, appliances, and other items to customers.
  • Load/unload donated items and maintain delivery records.
  • Plan daily routes to maximize efficiency and service.

What You'll Do
  • Pick up donated goods from homes, businesses, and community partners
  • Safely transport donations and merchandise to designated locations
  • Deliver furniture, appliances, and other purchased items to customers
  • Load and unload donated items, including furniture, household goods, clothing, and food donations
  • Organize daily routes to maximize efficiency and service
  • Prepare and maintain donation receipts and delivery records
  • Build positive relationships with donors and customers through friendly, professional service
  • Assist with warehouse and thrift store operations as needed
  • Help sort donations and identify items suitable for resale
  • Perform routine vehicle inspections and ensure the truck is properly maintained and fueled
  • Follow all traffic laws, safety procedures, and Salvation Army vehicle operation standards
Physical & Work Environment

This position involves daily driving and outdoor work in a variety of weather conditions. Team members may encounter heat, cold, rain, snow, dust, and other environmental conditions while serving donors and customers throughout the community.

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.
  • Ability to read and follow a map and/or hand-written directions. Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objects.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
  • Mobility (as the Warehouse Worker) are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis. Distance of travel is usually within the same building.
  • Ability to perform continuous walking, stooping, standing, and some climbing.
  • Ability to drive a heavy-duty truck.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Valid driver's license
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to meet The Salvation Army's vehicle operation and motor vehicle record requirements
  • Experience driving a large van, box truck, or heavy-duty truck
  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience will be considered.
Preferred:
  • At least one year of professional driving experience
  • Experience in delivery, transportation, warehouse, moving, logistics, or related work

  • Strong navigation and route-planning skills
  • Ability to safely operate a box truck or similar vehicle
