Job summary

Nabholz Construction in Hernando, MS is seeking a skilled CDL driver and rigger to support loading, transporting, and erecting heavy steel and crane attachments on diverse projects. You will inspect trucks and cargo for safety, and work with crane teams to move materials safely.

This role requires a valid Class A CDL, DOT medical clearance, and knowledge of DOT regulations. You may travel up to three weeks at a time and must demonstrate strong safety practices and effective communication on site.

Summary

Drivers typically transport cargo and/or crane attachments; inspect trucks for safety, looking for malfunctioning parts; inspect cargo to ensure that it is loaded correctly; and review shipping documents. CDL is required. Riggers help set up or operate machines that move heavy objects including steel plates, bundles of steel rods, drilling towers, platforms, and the heavy construction equipment used to build and take down steel structures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Truck Driving Skills:
    • Must possess valid Class A CDL.
    • Must be able to pass DOT physical.
    • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations.
  • Rigging and Moving Skills:
    • Selection and application of appropriate lifting devices including jacks, hoists, forklift, cranes, slings, and chokers.
    • Selection and application of appropriate pulleys, booms, braces, and cables for each job.
    • Crane signaling by hand signals or radio communication.
    • Selection and application of hooks, chains, and cables to lift a load safely.
    • All other tasks as assigned.
  • Excellent safety practices, including selection and application of personal protective equipment, fall protection devices, barricades, warning and signaling devices, etc.
  • Excellent communication skills including use of written, verbal, and graphic materials to convey information (i.e., written specs, blueprints, pictures, maps, drawings, etc.).
  • Proper selection and use of hand tools, small and large power tools, lifting and hoisting equipment, measuring tools, etc.
  • This job is safety sensitive for medical marijuana purposes.
  • This position requires driving a personal vehicle on behalf of the company or a company vehicle; therefore, the applicant must successfully complete a motor vehicle records check, possess, and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence, and immediately self-report convictions/violations/tickets to the DOT Compliance Specialist as per Company Policy. Any negative change in the status of the employee’s driving record may result in the revocation of the employee’s privilege to drive for the company.
Education/Skill Requirements

  • Job may require overnight travel for up to three weeks at a time.
  • Must possess valid Class A CDL.
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations and pass DOT physical.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to continuously sit, stand or walk.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, squat, climb stairs and lift frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds often and up to 100 occasionally.
  • Ability to work in heat or cold, work outside, or work in high elevations.
Work environment
  • Considerable physical effort of hands and arms required; the employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects with considerable weight.
  • Work in overhead structures, around, and beneath machinery.
  • May be required to return to work off-shifts or weekends to accommodate customers’ schedule.
  • Work at great heights.
  • Outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Some jobs expose workers to fumes, odors, loud noise, or dangerous machinery.
