Job summary

General Dynamics Electric Boat in Groton, CT is seeking a Truck Driver/Forklift Operator to support our transportation department. You will operate forklifts and a variety of trucks, perform deliveries, and move large loads across shipyard facilities and off-site locations.

The role requires a CDL Class B or higher with air brake endorsement, a clean driving record, and the ability to work all shifts. Training for a TLD qualification is provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or 2+ years of related technical experience.
• 5+ years of driving or warehouse experience.
• Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B or Higher with air brake endorsement.
• Ability to obtain a TLD with training.
• Ability to work all shifts based on business needs.

Responsibilities

Overview

Job Description: Be a part of the our growing transportation department and help power the mission.

Duties would include the operation of a wide variety of equipment including forklifts, stake trucks, van, tanker trucks, and box type trucks. Requirements include pick-up, delivery and moving large diverse loads within the shipyard, at our off site locations, at the sub base, and on public highways.

Role also requires participation in snow removal efforts, hand sorting, material scanning to receive and dispatch material deliveries, delivering carriable and/or palletized material from various warehouses and offices, working in unheated environments, Sensitive Material Knowledge, procedural compliance and the ability to qualify for a TLD (J-training provided). Job requires a Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class B or Higher. Air brake endorsement required. A bus and/or hazmat endorsement to the individuals CDL would be desirable.
