Job summary

Ryder System, Inc. in Romeoville, IL is seeking a Part Time Class A CDL Transfer Driver to shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities. The role offers home daily local routes with a Monday, Wednesday and Friday schedule and a starting pay of $22.50 per hour, plus a weekly $540 based on 24 hours.

Qualifications

• Must have Class A CDL with endorsements as required
• 9 months experience in the past 3 years OR 2 years in last 5 OR 5 years in last 10

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle and comply with safety & DOT regulations
• Maintain accurate records/logs and communicate with dispatch
• Support shuttle transfers between Ryder facilities and perform unloading/loading duties as needed

All Drivers have 24/7 Roadside Maintenance by a Ryder Trained Technician plus Service Employees fuel up our trucks at all 800+ Maintenance Facilities

• Freight:No Touch - Empty Trailers for Equipment Shuttle Transfer Movement

Requirements

• Minimum 21 years of age
• Pass a Ryder Drug Test
• Pass a Ryder Background and Motor vehicle check including Drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last 3 years
• Pass a DOT physical
• Pass a Ryder road test
• Provide appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position
• Must have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor trailer or comparable vehicle:
• 9 months experience within the past 3 years, OR
• 2 years’ experience within the last 5 years, OR
• 5 years’ experience within the last 10 years
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations policies and/or procedures

Some positions require additional screening that may include employment and education verification; motor vehicle records check and a road test; and/or badging or background requirements of the customer to which you are assigned.

Responsibilities

• This position is primarily responsible for safely driving a commercial vehicle and requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service

Additional Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Ensuring compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs Other tasks as assigned
