Job summary

International Paper in Des Moines, IA is seeking a Truck Driver 2 to safely operate a Box Van/tractor trailer on designated routes, perform pre/post trip inspections, and ensure DOT compliance. ThePay rate is $28.30 per hour for a full-time, hourly position.

Candidates should have a valid Class B CDL, 1–2 years of verifiable driving experience, and be able to pass background and drug tests. This role emphasizes safety, reliability, and strong customer service within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Class B CDL.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• 1–2 years of verifiable driving experience.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States.
• Must read, speak and write sufficient English to interact with the public and complete reports.
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR).
• Current DOT Medical card.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate assigned vehicle along a designated route collecting recyclables from commercial customers in compliance with laws and regulations.
• Complete daily pre/post trip inspections and report safety concerns.
• Attend daily safety-tool box meetings.
• Obtain daily work schedule and BOLs.
• Interact with customers and dispatcher to ensure routes are serviced on time.
• Maintain communication with dispatcher for route changes.
• Complete pickup, delivery and vehicle condition reports accurately.
• Maintain a safe, clean work environment per housekeeping standards.
• Demonstrate commitment to safety, environmental awareness, and continuous improvement.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Title: Truck Driver 2

Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time

Physical Location: 2800 Dixon Street Des Moines, IA

The Job You Will Perform

• Safely operate assigned vehicle along a designated route collecting recyclable materials from commercial customers in accordance with Company, Federal, State and Local laws and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (DOT) regulations
• Complete daily pre/post trip inspections, reporting any safety concerns
• Attend daily safety-tool box meetings
• Obtain daily work schedule, BOL’s
• Courteously interact with customers and dispatcher to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner
• Maintain communication throughout the day with dispatcher accommodating route changes as needed
• Ensure all pick-up, delivery and vehicle condition reports are completed in an accurate and timely manner
• Demonstrate strong commitment to safety, environmental awareness, and continuous process improvement
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards, including cleaning and trash removal from cab of truck
• Perform other duties as assigned

The Skills You Will Bring

• Valid Class B CDL (REQUIRED)
• Must be 21 years of age
• Must have 1 to 2 years of verifiable driving experience
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be able to read, speak and write enough English to converse with the general public, read signs and signals, respond to official inquiries and make entries on reports and records
• Ability to operate/monitor the following equipment: Box Van, Roll On-Roll Off for Compactor Tubes and Drop Boxes
• Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
• Current DOT Medical card
• Air Brakes Endorsement
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, random drug and/or alcohol tests, and criminal background check
• Strong customer service and communication skills
• Good time management skills
• Pride in reliability and working with a team
• Flexibility to work overtime and adapt to changes as needed
• Comfortable backing, maneuvering and parking a tractor trailerMust be familiar with cargo loading procedures to assure proper distribution, location and security
• Must be able to drive in a wide range of environmental conditions, including, but not limited to, rain, wind, snow, freezing temperatures, hot weather, etc.
• On-the-job success in safety, attendance & quality of work expected
• Must be able to safely operate pallet jack, to load and unload your truck
