Job description

Position Summary

The Truck Driver is responsible for safely loading, transporting, and delivering materials while ensuring compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.

This role includes equipment operation, customer interaction, documentation, and routine vehicle maintenance to support efficient and reliable operations.

Core Responsibilities

Transportation & Delivery
  • Safely operate commercial vehicles to transport materials to and from designated locations
  • Ensure timely and accurate delivery of products while meeting or exceeding customer expectations
  • Navigate varying road and weather conditions while maintaining safety and compliance
Loading & Unloading
  • Load trucks and secure materials in accordance with company procedures and safety standards
  • Inspect loads to ensure proper weight distribution and securement
  • Unload materials safely and efficiently at delivery locations or facilities
Equipment Operation
  • Operate equipment safely and efficiently, including but not limited to: semi-tractors, trailers (including pup trailers), straight trucks, forklifts, low boys, end dumps, and hand tools
  • Follow all procedures for safe equipment use and report any issues promptly

Maintenance & Equipment Care

  • Perform routine inspections, fueling, and cleaning of vehicles and equipment
  • Complete basic maintenance and minor repairs as qualified
  • Schedule and coordinate necessary repairs and preventative maintenance

Documentation & Compliance

  • Complete all required paperwork accurately, legibly, and in a timely manner
  • Comply with all DOT, OSHA, and company safety regulations
  • Follow all applicable federal, state, local, and company policies and procedures

Safety & Operational Support

  • Maintain a strong commitment to safety in all aspects of work
  • Assist in warehouse and/or yard operations as needed
  • Participate in safety initiatives and promote a culture of safe work practices

Communication & Professional Conduct

  • Communicate effectively with management, dispatch, and customers
  • Demonstrate professionalism, integrity, and respect in all interactions
  • Manage time efficiently to meet delivery schedules and operational needs
  • Maintain reliable attendance and accountability for assigned duties
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Ability to push and pull up to 80 pounds
  • Frequent climbing, standing, reaching, bending, squatting, and gripping
  • Ability to safely load and unload materials
  • Ability to work in varying weather and road conditions with moderate to low noise exposure

Qualifications

Education & Licensing

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Current DOT medical card

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR)
  • Strong safety awareness and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Ability to operate commercial vehicles and related equipment
