Job summary

The Salvation Army in Memphis seeks a capable delivery driver to serve stores and customers with timely merchandise deliveries. You will read and speak English to communicate clearly, perform pickups, load and secure goods, and conduct daily vehicle inspections to ensure safety and compliance.

A high school diploma or GED is preferred, plus a year of experience driving heavy trucks or large vans. Valid CDL is desired.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required or preferred.
• At least 1 year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van or equivalent training.
• CDL and DOT medical card preferred, valid as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver merchandise to stores and customers in a timely manner.
• Read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public.
• Perform special pickups and deliveries and collect vehicles at the garage as needed.
• Load store deliveries and sold merchandise on trucks in an organized manner.
• Conduct daily vehicle inspections (oil, water, tires, etc.) and secure vehicle and equipment.

Job description

Responsible for being knowledgeable of the geographical area assigned and operates the vehicle within state/federal statutes and/or guidelines. Read and speak the English language sufficiently to converse with the general public. Deliver merchandise to stores and deliver sold merchandise to customers. Perform special pickups and deliveries, pick up vehicles at the garage, and other similar activities. Clean and secure the vehicle and equipment; conduct daily inspections of the vehicle's oil, water, tires, and other items of the vehicle to maintain good operating condition. Load store deliveries and sold merchandise on trucks in the most organized manner.Education and ExperienceHigh school diploma or GED preferred but not required and one year of experience driving a heavy-duty truck or large van or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Licenses and CertificationsValid State Driver's LicenseValid DOT Medical CardValid Commercial Driver's License, desired but not required.
