Position Title: Truck Driver

Pay Rate: ($25.69/hour)

Sign on Bonus: $500 after 30 days, $500 after 6 months

Retention Bonus: $500 after 1 year, Additional lump sum after 2 years

Category/Shift: Hourly Full-Time 1st Shift (Monday-Friday) with some overtime expected

Physical Location: North Kansas City Sheets Plant, 1910 Warren Street, North Kansas City, MO. 64116

The Job You Will Perform:

  1. Complete pre-trip inspection report.
  2. Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
  3. Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving.
  4. Service all Scheduled customers at the end of the daily shift.
  5. Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
  6. Establish positive working relationships with primary contact at each account.
  7. Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  8. Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office.
  9. Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Truck Service Data, Safety Data, Quality Data.
  10. Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  11. Perform daily services such as – checking the oil level, water level, fuel, air in tires, and clean vehicle as needed.
  12. Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
  13. Check in with dispatcher prior to leaving for the day.
  14. Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping such as cleaning and trash removal from cab of truck at the end of every shift.
  15. Frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
  16. Post trip inspection reports at the end of the shift.
  17. Additional duties may be assigned by management.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  1. High school diploma or GED
  2. Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
  3. High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  1. Experience in the corrugated industry.
  2. Experience as a licensed driver in the metropolitan area.
  3. Experience as a forklift operator.
  4. Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  5. Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.
  6. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
  7. The individual must have a working knowledge of the following: Quality standards.
  8. May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
  9. Must have 1 year CDL driving experience, CDL-A Licensing for OTR and a valid state Commercial Drivers’ License.
  10. Meet (DOT) Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements.
