Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary

Penske Truck Leasing seeks highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and return to Penske locations and customers. It primarily includes moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A drivers, tractors and trailers. The position may also assist the service department in delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call part-time driving job, ideal for licensed CDL Class B or A drivers seeking supplemental income, working from 0 to 25 hours per week based on business needs.

Shift

Flexible, may include evenings and weekends.

Major Responsibilities

• Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to Penske or customer locations.
• Check vehicles for mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment, report issues.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payments if required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, violations, or damages.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Customer service, organizational skills, independence, positive attitude.
• Regular attendance.
• Compliance with DOT regulations, including driver qualification file, physical, MVR check, drug screening, and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, pass background and drug tests.

Physical Requirements

• Must see and hear adequately; specific vision abilities required.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting; ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally.
• Legal operation of a motor vehicle and safe entry/exit required.
