Job summary

FreshDirect is seeking a New Jersey Route Driver to deliver refrigerated orders efficiently and safely to customers within the NJ area. You will operate a refrigerated truck and assist with hand truck deliveries, ensuring orders reach destinations on time while maintaining professional customer service.

The role requires 2+ years of recent truck driving experience, a valid NY/NJ/CT license, and the ability to work weekends and holidays with a flexible shift.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of RECENT commercial truck driving experience.
• No degree required.
• Ability to clearly communicate and read in English.
• Must be able to work weekends (Sat & Sun) and Holidays.
• Flexible shift (mornings and/or evenings).
• 21 years of age or older.
• Valid NY/NJ/CT driver license.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and safe delivery of boxes to depots within the NJ area.
• Operates a refrigerated truck and uses a hand truck for deliveries.
• Deliver orders to destinations within the scheduled time.
• Provide professional customer service during deliveries.
• Report lateness, damaged, or missing products to supervisors.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Maintain safe working conditions in a cold environment.

New Jersey Route Driver

is responsible for providing efficient and safe delivery of boxes to our customers within the NJ Area. A driver operates a refrigerated truck and also operates a hand truck to assist when making deliveries. Our drivers deliver orders to the appropriate destination within a scheduled time. They are expected to provide professional customer service and timely reporting to supervisors and assigned dispatchers regarding lateness, damaged or missing products.. .

Responsibilities and Working Conditions

• Provide an efficient and safe delivery of boxes to our depots within the NJ area.
• Operates a refrigerated truck and also operates a hand truck to assist when making deliveries.
• Deliver orders to the appropriate destination within a scheduled time.
• Provide professional customer service.
• Provide timely reporting to supervisors and assigned dispatchers regarding lateness, damaged or missing products.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• In a workday: standing/walking 6-10 hours or more.
• Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
• Work requires the following motions: bending, twisting, squatting and reaching.
• Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals, loud noises, flashing lights.
• Constant exposure to temperatures: <-10 degrees Fahrenheit (freezing), 32-40 degrees Fahrenheit (refrigerators).
• Ability to work in a wet and cold environment.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Ability to use tools and equipment, including box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and other heavy machinery.
• Ability to work in other areas of the business as needed.

Qualifications

• A minimum of 2 years of RECENT commercial truck driving experience.
• No degree required.
• Ability to clearly communicate and read in English.
• Must be able to work weekends (Saturday & Sunday) and Holidays.
• Must be able to work a flexible shift (mornings and/or evenings).
• Ability to complete all basic and recurring training.
• Must be able to deliver orders up to 50 lbs in weight to the appropriate destination within a scheduled time [this may include walking up or down several flights of stairs].
• Must be comfortable interacting with customers.
• Must have a strong commitment to customer service and safe.
• Comfort /familiarity with basic smartphone operations.
• Ability to utilize smartphones for two‑way communication with our Operations Team.
• Must embody and demonstrate company values and culture.
• 21 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid NY, NJ, CT driver license.
• Ability to prioritize and make decisions independently.
• Ability to navigate a route successfully & independently.
• 3 points or less on a motor vehicle report.
• No suspensions within the past 12 months and no more than 1 suspension in the past 3 years.
• No more than 1 accident in the past three years.
• Cannot have more than 3 moving violations within the past 3 years.
