Job summary

The City of Green Bay Department of Public Works is seeking to establish an eligibility list for Truck Drivers to perform routine operation of all trucks in snow and ice control and various other public works activities. Don’t have a Commercial Driver's License? We can train you!

Hours: Mon–Fri 7:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. with seasonal variations; summer shifts may be 6:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. No residency requirement, but call-ins within 30 minutes are expected.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License with Class A and Class N endorsements, or ability to obtain within 30 days, and a good driving record.
  • A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Ability to follow oral and written orders.

Responsibilities

  • Operates all trucks in snow and ice control and various public works activities.
  • Operates other equipment and heavy equipment as qualified and as directed.
  • Reports all mechanical problems to Equipment Repair Section immediately.
  • Responsible for and performs daily maintenance on equipment, including refueling, greasing, washing, and minor repairs.
  • Hauls snow from Parking Utility roofs and streets; hauls material to public works projects.
  • Trains other employees as assigned.

Job description

The City of Green Bay Department of Public Works (DPW) is seeking to establish an eligibility list for Truck Drivers to perform routine operation of all trucks in snow and ice control and various other public works activities. I deal candidates will be self motivated and adaptable.

Don't have a Commercial Driver's License? No problem! We can train you!
Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (40 hours per week). Hours may vary by position and season.

Summer Hours!!

Monday - Thursday, 6:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. or Tuesday - Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Tthree day weekends during the summer!!

No residency requirement, however Public Works employees are required to respond to call-ins within 30 minutes.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Experience in related field desirable.
  3. Valid Commercial Driver's License with Class A and Class Nendorsements, or the ability to obtain the endorsements within 30 days, and a good driving record.

A combination of equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

Ability to follow oral and written orders. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public. Knowledge and ability to drive various types of trucks. Ability to work the required hours of the position.

Physical Requirements
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Lifting and carrying in excess of 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
  • Frequent standing, walking, sitting, bending and stooping.
  • Ability to reach and climb.
  • Ability to work in varied environmental conditions.
