Job summary

Billor is seeking a Class 8 Semi-Truck & Trailer Inspector to perform comprehensive safety and mechanical inspections across our heavy‑duty fleet. You will verify structural and operational integrity for tractors and trailers, ensuring DOT/FMCSA compliance and safe operation.

Work with fleet operations and maintenance teams to prioritize repairs and re‑inspect after service. This is a hands-on, on-site role requiring keen attention to detail.

Qualifications

• Experience performing pre-trip, periodic, and preventive inspections.
• Knowledge of DOT/FMCSA safety standards.
• Ability to inspect multiple trailer types (flatbed, dry van, reefer).

• Vehicle & Equipment Inspections: thorough pre-trip, periodic, and preventive inspections of Class 8 tractors and trailers.
• Trailer Specialization: Inspect multiple trailer types.
• Flatbeds: Verify deck integrity, tie-downs, winches, rub rails, and frames.
• Dry Vans: Inspect floorboards, seals, roof lining, sidewalls, and cargo securing components.
• Reefers: Inspect reefer unit operation, temperature monitoring, door seals, and insulation.
• Component Diagnostics: Check air brakes, steering, suspension, tires, rims, lights, and couplings.
• Compliance & Recordkeeping: Document inspection results and sign off on DOT/FMCSA logs.
• Fleet Coordination: Work with fleet operations and maintenance to prioritize repairs and re‑inspect after service.

About the role

We are seeking a qualified and detail‑oriented Class 8 Semi‑Truck & Trailer Inspector to perform comprehensive safety and mechanical inspections across our diverse fleet of heavy‑duty equipment. The primary focus of this role is to verify structural, mechanical, and operational integrity for Class 8 power units and various trailer types (flatbed, dry van, and refrigerated units) to ensure full compliance with DOT and FMCSA safety standards.

Responsibilities

Vehicle & Equipment Inspections:

Perform thorough pre‑trip, periodic, and preventive maintenance inspections on Class 8 tractors and associated trailers.

Trailer Specialization:

Inspect multiple trailer types

Flatbeds:

Verify deck integrity, tie‑down equipment, winches, rub rails, and structural frames.

Dry Vans:

Inspect floorboards, door seals, roof linings, sidewalls, and cargo securing components.

Reefers (Refrigerated Trailers):

Inspect reefer unit operational status, temperature monitoring components, door seals, and insulation integrity.

Component Diagnostics:

Check critical mechanical systems including air brakes, steering components, suspension, tires, rims, lighting systems, and coupling devices (fifth wheels and kingpins).

Compliance & Recordkeeping:

Document inspection results accurately, generate detailed defect reports, and sign off on DOT/FMCSA inspection logs.

Fleet Coordination:

Work alongside fleet operations and maintenance staff to prioritize repair needs and re‑inspect vehicles after maintenance work is completed.
