Job summary

Beaufort County Community College in Washington, NC seeks a part-time TRIO tutoring professional to provide individualized and small-group instruction in assigned disciplines. The role supports student achievement, study strategies, critical thinking, and independent learning within the TRIO Student Support Services program.

You will collaborate with the TRIO Director, Academic Coach, and campus partners to enhance persistence, graduation, and transfer outcomes while complying with TRIO

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the subject area to be tutored or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated knowledge of college-level coursework and instructional strategies.
• Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to explain complex academic concepts in a clear, patient, and engaging manner.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and educational technology platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized and small-group tutoring to TRIO Student Support Services participants.
• Reinforce classroom instruction and help with course concepts, assignments, and test preparation.
• Promote independent learning by teaching time management, organization, and note-taking skills.
• Maintain accurate documentation of tutoring sessions, attendance, progress, and services per TRIO guidelines.
• Collaborate with the TRIO Director, Academic Coach, faculty, and campus staff to identify student needs and interventions.
• Refer students to campus resources such as counseling, accessibility services, and writing support when appropriate.
• Assist with development and facilitation of academic success workshops and study sessions.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and TRIO events.
