Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a Trimmer to join our utility line clearance team in Wilson, NC. You will perform tree pruning and removal for major electric utility providers, using climbing systems and operating equipment safely as part of a crew.

No prior experience? Training provided. We offer benefits, paid time off, a 401(k) with company match, and opportunities for advancement; travel up to 25% may apply, with daily outdoor work and strong safety training guiding your progress.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Requires valid driver’s license; CDL preferred (Class A or B) with Airbrake Endorsement.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees using approved systems (DdRT/MRS or SRT/SRS) and perform pruning and removal for utility clients.
• Remove damaged limbs and prune treetops while following safety guidelines.
• Operate and maintain tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Work as part of a crew with foreperson and ground crew; contribute to safe, efficient job completion.

Davey Utility Line Clearance, a division of The Davey Tree Expert Company, is pleased to offer a key opportunity in the field of Utility Line Clearance as a Trimmer.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
