Job summary

Davey Tree Surgery Co. is seeking a dynamic utility tree trimmer to join a team delivering pruning and removal services for major electric utility providers. Your office is outdoors, with a chance to advance as you grow your skills.

You’ll climb with safe, controlled techniques and operate a range of equipment, from chainsaws to aerial lifts, while maintaining the highest safety and service standards. Training and safety programs accompany this role.

Qualifications

• Outdoors emphasis and willingness to work outside in all weather.
• Must be able to complete Davey Tree orientation and safety trainings.
• Ability to obtain First Aid/ CPR and defensive driving certification on hire.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license; CDL is preferred.
• Line clearance experience and pesticide licenses are a plus where state law requires.

Responsibilities

• Climb trees and perform pruning/removal for utilities.
• Operate and maintain chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, and related tools.
• Work as a crew member with ground crew and foreperson.
• Follow safety guidelines and industry pruning standards.
• Grow with the role—advancement opportunities available.

Position Overview

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• Climb Trees! Davey offers both DdRT/MRS and SRT/SRS climbing systems
• Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for major electric utility providers. Including but not limited to:
• Pruning treetops and repairing damaged trees by trimming or removal
• Removing broken limbs from utility lines, roofs, and other objects
• Application of tree identification knowledge and industry pruning guidelines
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more
• Operate as an active crew member with supporting ground crew and foreperson

Qualifications

What We’re Seeking:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Required: valid driver’s license
• Preferred: Commercial Driver’s License-Class A or B with Airbrake Endorsement
• Preferred: line clearance experience or other related tree work
• Preferred: relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
