Job summary

Matthew Warren, Inc. in Cedar Grove, NJ is seeking a Machine Operator I to perform essential manufacturing steps, including part trimming and drilling, to meet daily production needs in the machine shop.

You will work with manual and HAAS drilling machines, read blueprints, and maintain safety and quality guidelines. You will record production data in the ERP system and support continuous improvement in a non-supervisory role.

Qualifications

• Must be proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, specification sheets, and/or mechanical drawings and in precision measurement or become proficient through training.
• Capable of using measuring instruments, i.e. micrometer, calipers, comparator, height gauge, etc.
• Capable of using hand tools (i.e. screwdriver, wrenches etc.)
• Ability to read and write, perform basic arithmetic and follow verbal and written instructions.
• High School Diploma or Equivalent

Responsibilities

• Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
• Trim plated parts to print specifications utilizing manual and programmable Lathes.
• Core drill parts using equipment including manual drill presses, lathes and programmable HAAS Drilling machines
• Performs preventative maintenance including fluid changes, lubrication and cleaning of machines when needed/directed by the Lead / Supervisor
• Accurately record production information on paper travellers and in the ERP system
• Maintains a clean machine and organized work area.
• Makes minor repairs and notifies maintenance for other maintenance needs.
• Performs variety of tasks such as counting, cleaning, returning gauges and fixtures, transferring of parts
• Use measuring equipment to maintain close tolerances
• Follows schedules and procedures
• Adaptable to cell and team concepts as well as cross-training
• Sees that all safety guards are in place and in good condition
• Assists other operators if necessary
• Inspects work in progress using equipment necessary and outlined in Quality or work instructions. Responsible for quality of own work; required to notify Supervisor or Lead if quality requirement is unclear or questionable
• All other duties as assigned
