Job summary

Ponca City Development Authority in Newkirk, Oklahoma, seeks a Tribal Youth Program Project Coordinator to support at-risk Native American youth through intervention and prevention services within Kaw Nation's service area.

The role involves planning cultural activities, coordinating events such as internships, Back-to-School Bash, field trips and summer programs, collaborating with schools and Kaw Nation departments, collecting data for reporting, and ensuring mentoring and tutoring schedules

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work or related field with one or more years of work experience in juvenile services preferred.
• Experience working with Native American youth.

Responsibilities

• Provide intervention and prevention services to at-risk Native American youth in Kaw Nation service area.
• Organize, prepare, and develop activities for tribal youth focused on culture and juvenile issues.
• Attend mandatory trainings and conferences; joining juvenile consortiums.
• Work closely with school counselors and Kaw Nation Departments to implement prevention and intervention services.
• Plan and assist with coordination of events for the Tribal Youth Program including the Intern program, Back-to-School Bash, Youth Field Trips, Youth Powwow, Teen Dating Awareness Month, and provide afterschool activities and family strengthening cultural classes.
• Work with the Language Program to assist with the Language Fair and provide a Tribal youth Summer Day Camp.
• Collaborate with project partners and internal departments to implement prevention and intervention services and establish mentoring/tutoring schedules.
• Responsible for collecting data and assisting with preparation of required reporting.
• Perform other related duties as may be required by immediate supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in social work, Psychology, Sociology, Juvenile Justice, or closely related field with one of more years of work experience in the field of juvenile services preferred. Must have had experience working with Native American youth.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Provide intervention and prevention services to at-risk Native American youth in Kaw Nation service area.
2. Organize, prepare, and develop all activities for tribal youth focused on tribal culture, relevant topics, and juvenile issues.

4. Work closely with school counselors, related Kaw Nation Departments, and other service providers to implement prevention and intervention services.
5. Plan and assist with coordination of events for the Tribal Youth Program including the Intern program, Back-to-School Bash, Youth Field Trips, Youth Powwow, Teen Dating Awareness Month, and provide afterschool activities and family strengthening cultural classes.
