State of Colorado, Department of Natural Resources, seeks a Policy Advisor VI to lead Tribal affairs, government-to-government engagement, and outreach across DNR divisions. You will serve as the subject matter expert on Tribal issues, coordinate with Tribal Nations, and ensure adherence to law and policy while advancing partnerships.

The role requires nine years of relevant experience or a combination with required education, travel up to 4 times monthly within CO and occasional work from home.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of relevant professional experience in natural resource policy, public policy, natural resource management, or Tribal Affairs.
• Education combination: a bachelor’s degree in public policy, law, political science, public administration, natural resource management, Tribal Affairs or related field with related experience.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

Responsabilités

• Lead communications, engagement and interactions between the Department and Tribal partners.
• Develop and maintain relationships with Tribal Nations and AI/AN communities and coordinate with state agencies.
• Provide training and guidance to staff on cultural protocols and Indian law to advance Tribal sovereignty and priorities.
• Represent the Department in government-to-government consultations and policy development related to Tribal issues.
