Job summary

The Office of the District Attorney, Bronx County (BXDA) invites applications for a Trial Preparation Assistant in the Investigation Division - Financial Frauds Bureau. The role supports case preparation from intake to disposition, coordinating with NYPD, ACS, OCME, and hospitals, and assisting with discovery and document handling.

Responsibilities include drafting legal documents, redacting materials, reviewing records, securing affidavits, and assisting witnesses.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or related duties; or education/experience equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent experience in a law-related field.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with and acquire documents from agencies (NYPD, ACS, OCME, hospitals).
• Compile, analyze, reproduce case documents and ensure proper redaction.
• Draft legal documents such as Motion Responses, Legal Memorandum, Search Warrants, Subpoenas, and Orders to Produce.
• Serve Takeout Orders and Orders to Produce on Department of Correction.
• Perform legal research.
• Notify police personnel and civilians to appear when necessary.
• Consult with Clerks to obtain dispositions certificates.
• Engage in witness contact and communication.
• Secure corroborating affidavits.
• Obtain and evaluate computer and phone records including social media and cell site info.
• Secure, listen to, and transcribe phone calls from the Department of Correction.
• Travel to other locations as needed; assist with discovery preparation.
• Provide duplication of digital recordings of surveillance or defendant statements.
• All other duties as assigned.
