• Paralegal certificate or ABA‑approved education preferred; Notary Public certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Cokinos | Young is seeking an experienced Trial & Personal Injury Litigation Paralegal to support attorneys throughout all phases of complex litigation. The role centers on trial preparation, in-person trial attendance, and hands‑on support of the trial team, with a particular emphasis on personal injury matters.

The ideal candidate is a trial‑tested litigation paralegal comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and has supported attorneys from case inception through trial. Prior experience with personal injury litigation, depositions, hearings, mediations, and arbitration is strongly preferred.

Experience in construction litigation, commercial litigation, products liability, or other complex litigation is also valuable.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive trial paralegal support throughout the entire litigation process, from case receipt and post‑trial proceedings.
• Support attorneys handling personal injury and other complex litigation matters, including catastrophic injury and liability‑related cases.
• Assist with all aspects of trial preparation, including organizing exhibits, preparing witness materials, developing trial binders, and coordinating logistics.
• Assist attorneys in preparing for and participating in depositions, hearings, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
• Prepare, draft, edit, and proofread motions, discovery, subpoenas, petitions, notices, and other legal documents.
• Monitor state and federal court dockets and ensure compliance with applicable procedural and filing requirements.
• Prepare and coordinate discovery, including requests for production, interrogatories, requests for admission, subpoenas, and discovery responses.
• Organize, review, analyze, and summarize medical records, incident reports, photographs, expert materials, discovery responses, and other large volumes of case information.
• Assist with the preparation of deposition materials, including deposition exhibits, summaries, chronologies, and witness files.
• Coordinate with clients, witnesses, experts, medical providers, court personnel, opposing counsel, and other third parties.
• Assist attorneys with factual and case‑related research and document analysis.
• Maintain accurate and organized electronic and physical case files in accordance with firm procedures.
• Utilize litigation support and document management systems to organize, track, and retrieve case information.
• Source, verify, and compile relevant case information and documentation.
• Communicate professionally and effectively with clients, attorneys, colleagues, experts, and outside parties.
• Anticipate attorney’s needs and proactively assist with case preparation and deadlines.

Qualifications

• 8–10 years of litigation/trial paralegal experience required.
• Significant experience supporting attorneys in personal injury litigation and/or trial‑focused litigation strongly preferred.
• Trial and deposition preparation experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience independently managing cases from inception through trial.
• Strong knowledge of Texas state and federal court procedures, filing requirements, and litigation deadlines.
• Experience with personal injury matters involving medical records, damages documentation, liability issues, expert witnesses, and discovery is highly desirable.
• Paralegal certificate, ABA‑approved paralegal education, or equivalent legal training preferred.
• Notary Public certification preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Teams.
• Experience with litigation support, e‑discovery, case management, and/or document management software preferred.
• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple cases, deadlines, and competing priorities.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy, particularly when handling court filings and litigation deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and proactively support attorneys.
