Job summary

BluePearl Pet Hospital in Tacoma, WA is seeking two knowledgeable Overnight OR Daytime Veterinary Assistants on 4/10 shifts. Starting pay is $22-$29 per hour, with shift differentials for evenings and weekends.

The role focuses on triage, intake, vitals, client communication, and ongoing patient care, with a 4 days on, 4 days off schedule. Compensation includes medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO, and ongoing education opportunities through BluePearl University.

Qualifications

• Intake and triage of incoming patients.
• Comfortable taking vitals including heart rate, pulse, capillary refill, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate and effort.
• Client communication and education.
• Perform consistent rechecks, chart vitals trends and client updates.
• Maintain open communication with the doctor and staff to minimize wait times.

Responsibilities

• Intake and triage of incoming patients.
• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.
• Take vital signs and monitor patient condition.
• Communicate with clients and educate them about care.
• Recheck patients and chart vital sign trends.
• Coordinate with doctors to ensure timely patient care.
• Stock and clean as needed.
• Monitor waiting/exam room and update clients on wait times.

Job description

BluePearl Pet Hospital is seeking two knowledgeable and skilled Overnight OR Daytime Veterinary Assistants at our Tacoma, WA hospital! They are both 4/10s shifts.

Pay: $22 - $29 / hour

This is a starting point and dependent on leveling through our competency system. This does not include overnight shift differentials, shown below.

Shift Differentials:

• Mon - Fri: 6pm to 8am = $4.50 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 6pm to 8am = $8.00 Shift Differential
• Sat & Sun: 8am to 6pm = $4.50 Shift Differential

Schedule:

• Overnight Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 6pm-5am, 1 hour lunch break.
• Day Shift: Wednesday - Saturday 7am-6pm, 1 hour lunch break.
• 4 days on, 4 days off

As a Triage Veterinary Assistant, you will:

• Intake and Triage of Incoming Patients

• Report patient signalment, problem list, and plan during nursing rounds.

• Comfortable taking vitals, including accurately counting heart, pulse rate, capillary refill time, mucous membranes, temperature, respiratory rate, and effort.
• Client communication and education
• Perform consistent rechecks, chart vital sign trends and client updates.
• Constant communication with intaking doctor to ensure prompt and proper patient care
• Stocking and cleaning as needed
• Monitor the waiting/exam room clients; assist with refreshments/marketing materials; update clients on wait time/patient status
• Maintain open communication with the doctor and technical staff to minimize wait times and maximize patient flow regarding long wait times
• Manage Cornerstone/Instinct hospital census
