Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company in Youngstown, OH is seeking a motivated Climbing Arborist Trainee to join our outdoor tree care team. This hands-on role offers on-site work and a path to skilled arborist duties, including pruning, removal, and safety procedures.

You’ll learn climbing techniques, tool operation, and how to follow industry standards while supporting a crew. Our program emphasizes safety, growth, and employee ownership through training and advancement opportunities.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights (preferred).
• Willingness to complete Davey Tree Orientation Program on hire.
• Willingness to complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses/certificates, if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and operate as a member of a tree crew.
• Learn pruning and removal techniques and safety procedures.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees and maintenance of tools and equipment.
• Growth and advancement depend on performance and safety.
