Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Climbing Arborist Trainee in Youngstown, OH for an outdoor internship. You’ll join a tree crew to learn climbing, pruning, and safe removal techniques while you earn while you learn.

You'll receive industry-leading safety training, tools and gear, and paths for advancement across the U.S. Become part of an employee-owned company that values growth, community, and high-quality client service.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Background in Forestry, Horticulture, Landscaping, or working at heights.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: pesticide licenses and related certificates if required by state law.

Responsibilities

• Learn to climb trees and be paid to do that.
• Operate as a member of a tree crew while progressively learning new skills.
• Learn to perform all aspects of pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients, including tree identification and pruning guidelines.
• Learn to install cables, bracing, and lightning protection systems.
• Assist in removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts, etc.
