The Davey Tree Expert Company in Charlottesville, VA is hiring a Tree Care Groundperson. The role is on-site with a pay range of $22–$24 per hour. You will join a team of tree care professionals working outdoors with day-to-day variation in scenery and tasks.

The position emphasizes safety, hands-on pruning and removal work, and collaboration with climbers and foremen. Ideal candidates value outdoor life and are ready to complete required trainings on hire.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to complete orientation program upon hire.
• Ability to complete First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Perform tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully (including pruning, thinning, removing deadwood, installing cables, bracing, lightning protection).
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Be part of Greenspace stewardship team.
