Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Tree Care Groundperson to join our outdoor team in Dulles, VA. This full-time on-site role offers pay between $20 and $24 per hour depending on experience, with opportunities to work on a variety of tree care projects across the country.

You will assist climbers and crew with pruning, removal, and installation tasks while maintaining safety and professional standards. This is an employee-owned company known for safety and client service.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®.

Responsibilities

• Assist climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Perform tree pruning and removal tasks safely and skillfully, including pruning, thinning, deadwood removal, cable/bracing, and removal of hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare, and operate tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Be part of the greenspace stewardship team.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!
