The Davey Tree Expert Company in Gaithersburg, MD is hiring a Tree Care Groundperson to work outdoors with a dedicated crew of tree care professionals. You’ll assist climbers, foremen, and other crew members while gaining experience across pruning, removal, and related tasks.

Qualifications

• Complete Davey Tree orientation program on hire.
• Complete Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course on hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist climbers, foreman and crew.
• Perform pruning and removal safely and skillfully for clients, including pruning, thinning and removing deadwood.
• Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems.
• Remove hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts.
• Be part of the greenspace stewardship team.

Job Duties

What You’ll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law
• Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist ®, ISA Certified Tree Worker ®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional ®
