Job summary

The City of Seguin is seeking a Service Worker—Tree Trimming to join the street maintenance crew. The role focuses on climbing and assisting in pruning, cabling, bracing and ground work for trees, with emphasis on safety and proper technique.

You will operate chainsaws, chippers, and bucket truck basics, identify tree species, and support a tree care crew in all assigned tasks. Training and safety compliance are essential for this field position.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Two years of landscape or tree maintenance experience preferred.
• Must be able to lift and maneuver up to 112 lbs.
• Knowledge of safe pruning practices and tree care procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist in performing specialized pruning, takedowns, install cabling and bracing.
• Safely operate chainsaw, chipper, trucks and hand tools.
• Identify native and introduced trees and shrubs in the service area.
• Demonstrate sound tree risk assessment skills.
• Learn techniques for plant health care and safe operation of equipment.
• Participate in all safety training sessions.
