Job summary

Jake's Tree Service in Chester, PA is seeking a skilled Crane Operator to safely operate cranes during tree removals, storm cleanup, and arboricultural work. You will work closely with climbers and ground crews to execute lifting plans and ensure safety.

This full-time role requires a valid CDL and experience with hydraulic cranes or boom trucks, plus the ability to read load charts, maintain equipment, and communicate effectively with customers and management.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL (Class A or Class B preferred).
• Experience operating hydraulic cranes or boom trucks.
• Ability to read and understand load charts and crane operating procedures.
• Strong understanding of safety practices and hazard recognition.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physical job duties as required.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Preferred: First Aid/CPR certification.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company cranes for tree removals, rigging operations, and material handling.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of crane equipment and maintain accurate documentation.
• Set up cranes properly according to site conditions, load capacities, and safety requirements.
• Work closely with tree climbers and ground crews to execute lifting plans safely and efficiently.
• Interpret load charts, calculate lifting capacities, and assess site hazards.
• Conduct routine maintenance checks and report equipment issues promptly.
• Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, and industry best practices.
• Assist with storm response and emergency tree removal operations as needed.
• Maintain a clean and professional appearance of equipment and work areas.
• Communicate effectively with customers, coworkers, and management.
