Great Southern Wood Preserving, Inc. is seeking a Lumber Treating Operator. This is a full-time position offering a competitive pay and full benefits package. We are filling a 2nd shift Treater role. The 2nd shift includes a $1.50 per hour shift differential.
Overview
Summary: Responsible for efficiently pressure treating wood products while maintaining quality standards by performing the following duties:
Responsibilities
- Process material through treatment by counting material to be treated into charges, enter information into computer system, select treating cycle, and begin treatment.
- Drill each charge to check for penetration of preservative and retention of preservative, and judge samples against set standards.
- Record test results for inspection by third party inspector, maintain ledger with sample/test information.
- Post each charge into computer database system to relieve white wood inventory of treated product.
- Monitor efficiency of treating schedules.
- Check solution in work tanks once per shift, collect samples, and run tests to check for all chemical components.
- Log solution test results into ledger and make necessary adjustments to remain within standards.
- Work in coordination with plant manager to track treating recipes, expenses, and any adjustments needed in the treating process.
- Maintain housekeeping in treating office, tank farm, and around cylinders.
- Troubleshoot equipment problems or breakdowns.
- Assist in picking up lumber and other materials as needed.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED preferred
- Three to six months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
