Job summary

Butterball, LLC in Mount Olive, NC is seeking an Equipment Operator 1 for Tray Pack Grinder. Responsibilities include setting up, operating and maintaining equipment to meet production standards in a food processing plant.

The role requires adherence to safety, USDA and GMP guidelines, and close coordination with supervision, QA and maintenance. Prior experience in food manufacturing is preferred; candidates must be able to work varied shifts and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Must be at least 18 years old and legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass a background check, drug screen and pre-employment physical.
• Must be able to use basic math and typing skills.
• Ability to pass Lock Out – Tag Out training.
• Ability to learn and to perform work on all equipment within assigned department.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Works independently and self-motivated in performing job tasks.
• Communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.

Responsibilities

• Ensure that production standards are met by efficiently running the machines and equipment.
• Set up, operate, maintain equipment and tear down as instructed.
• Run product at line speed as scheduled by Production Supervisor.
• Maintain ongoing communication with Production Supervision, Quality Assurance, and Maintenance as it relates to equipment performance and down time.
• Follow safety procedures and checklist for startup, emergency stop, and restart of the lines after down time.
• Follows all work safety policies and guidelines, such as Lock Out – Tag Out.
• Observes equipment operation, notifying appropriate personnel of any malfunctions and /or safety issues/concerns.
• Adheres to all USDA and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) product standards and guidelines.
• Maintains a clean and organized area.
• Cross train on other equipment/areas as needed.
• Maintain equipment records through paper logs or on assigned electronic device accurately and timely.
• Other duties as assigned.
