Job summary

Belcan Corporation in Allen Park, MI seeks a Traveling Technologist to support engineers in testing, repairing and developing vehicle systems on-site. This five‑month assignment offers OT as needed and a work window from 6:45am to 3:30pm. Immediate start is available.

The role requires a high school diploma and extensive automotive testing experience, with hands‑on electrical, mechanical and instrumentation work to help keep projects on schedule.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 8+ years automotive/testing experience required.
• Electrical splicing, crimping, soldering and mechanical layout experience.
• ASE certification(s) and related credentials preferred.
• Associate degree in Automotive Technology or related field preferred.
• Fabrication and high voltage vehicle experience beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Lead cross‑functional teams and manage multiple testing projects.
• Assemble, diagnose and repair complex vehicle electrical/mechanical systems.
• Train and mentor teammates on design, fabrication and testing.
• Perform functional inspection and verify instrumentation and systems.

Job Summary:
The Technologist will assist engineers with designing, developing, testing, and repairing vehicles, or other equipment. The role will provide mentorship and technical support to other employees and work to keep operational activities on schedule and functioning smoothly. The Technologist role supports project growth and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assemble, disassemble, diagnose and repair complex electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and high voltage electric vehicle systems using power supplies, function generators, multimeters, oscilloscopes and OBD (On Board Diagnostics) diagnostic interface tools.
• Validate products through activities such as setting up vehicles, components, or equipment for the testing of electrical, electronic,mechanical, instrumentation or integrated systems or equipment.
• Train, coach, mentor and provide technical support to other team members regarding mechanical and electrical design, fabrication and testing responsibilities and is available as a subject matter expert.
• Perform complete functional inspection and prove-out of Instrumentation, Electrical and mechanical systems.
• Collaborate with customers, engineers and internal services to identify equipment and sensors to support testing requirements.
• Schedule product testing and activities with internal and external teams.

Education and Experience (required):

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 8 years of automotive, prototype or testing experience.
• Experience performing electrical splicing, crimping, soldering and mechanical layout and packaging of components and systems.

Education and Experience (preferred):

• National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certification(s).
• Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Engineering Technology, or related field.
• Experience in fabrication.
• Experience in high voltage, electrified vehicle systems.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (required):

• Ability to lead and work with different cross functional teams and have excellent organizational skills.
• Intermediate MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Ability to collect data from testing results and software and manage multiple projects.
• Knowledge of vehicle and component instrumentation for testing.
• Good mechanical skills.

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (preferred):

• Advanced MS Office skills specifically with Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
• Ability to perform complete functional inspection and prove-out of instrumentation, electrical and mechanical systems.
• Knowledge of Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH), heat management, climate, fuel, and emissions testing.
• Light fabrication skills.
• Ability to work overtime as needed including weekends.
