Job summary

Easterseals Chicago is seeking a full-time Traveling Teacher to provide temporary classroom coverage across Chicagoland Head Start and Early Head Start sites. Assignments typically last about 4 weeks, with mileage reimbursement for travel between sites.

Under this role, you will support school readiness goals, collaborate with staff, and participate in professional development. A $4,000 sign-on bonus is offered along with potential to travel to multiple classrooms in the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education or related field with at least 30 hours of ECE coursework.
• Infant Toddler coursework required; credential preferred.
• Working toward Gateways Credential Level 5 – Early Childhood Education.
• Working toward Gateways Infant/Toddler Credential Level 5.
• Experience teaching in an early childhood classroom.
• Must meet Head Start requirements for EHS/PI program

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge of Creative Curriculum and utilize the system.
• Demonstrate knowledge of Teaching Strategies GOLD and utilize the online system.
• Lead classroom team in creating a developmentally appropriate environment.
• Supervise all children’s activities at all times.
• Account for children using active supervision.
• Attend trainings and meetings; complete professional development plan.
• Support agency’s school readiness goals.
• Travel to partner sites to provide temporary classroom coverage.
• Prepare reports on classroom activities, including attendance notes.
• Use IEP/IFSP to support children with disabilities.
• Work closely with Easter Seals staff and consultants.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
