Job summary

Scott Humphrey Corporation is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent with a strong background in small box retail construction to oversee commercial retail projects nationwide.

The ideal candidate will manage field operations, supervise subcontractors, coordinate trades, review plans, ensure safety and quality, and keep projects on schedule and within budget while maintaining effective communication with project teams.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of commercial construction experience.
• Previous experience as a Superintendent.
• Proven small box retail construction experience.
• Ground-up and/or renovation experience.
• Strong knowledge of commercial construction means and methods.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, structural, MEP, and civil drawings.
• Strong understanding of project scheduling and sequencing.
• Ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage all day-to-day field operations from project mobilization through completion.
• Supervise subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel.
• Coordinate and sequence all trades to maintain project schedules.
• Review plans, specifications, and construction documents for accuracy and constructability.
• Maintain project schedules and provide regular updates to the Project Manager.
• Conduct daily site walks and monitor progress against the project schedule.
• Coordinate material deliveries, site logistics, equipment, and manpower.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.
• Enforce company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
• Conduct quality-control inspections throughout construction.
• Identify and resolve field issues before they impact schedule or budget.
• Coordinate inspections with local authorities and third-party inspectors.
• Lead punch-list activities and project closeout.
• Maintain daily reports, documentation, photographs, and other required project records.
• Attend project meetings and communicate effectively with the Project Manager, client, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Help ensure projects are completed on schedule, within established quality standards, and in accordance with plans and specifications.
