Job summary

Zernco is seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead on-site construction for fast-paced, ground-up projects in the Midwest and beyond. This role requires traveling nationwide; projects near home are not guaranteed.

You will coordinate with PMs, supervise subs, and ensure safety, schedule, and quality from start to finish. The ideal candidate has 5+ years in commercial ground-up projects, knowledge of Divisions 1–16, and is OSHA 30 certified with strong blueprint reading skills.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial ground-up construction.
• Knowledge of Divisions 1–16; petroleum/fuel station or restaurant construction experience highly desired.
• Proficient in blueprint reading and construction methods.
• OSHA 30 certified.
• Capable of physical labor on-site: lift/carry up to 50 lbs., push/pull up to 100 lbs., stand/walk for long periods.

Responsibilities

• Manage all on-site construction activities, ensuring work meets safety, schedule, quality, and budget goals
• Collaborate with Project Managers and client reps to resolve conflicts and align with project specs and codes
• Oversee subcontractors to ensure scopes are understood and executed properly
• Maintain accurate daily job reports, purchase orders, job site photos, and time logs
• Facilitate weekly safety meetings and participate in incident investigations when necessary
• Conduct site housekeeping, equipment oversight, and tool management
• Lead project close-out efforts, including punch list completion, red-line drawings, and warranty submissions
• Mentor field staff including Project Engineers, Foremen, and Carpenters
