Job Summary

The Superintendent/Foreman oversees daily site operations for Earthwork projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, design specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines. The role includes direct management of lead personnel and on‑site staff to drive efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate daily with General Superintendents and job site crews to ensure project schedules and workforce needs are met.
  • Schedule and monitor subcontractors to complete work according to agreements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards, conducting daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings, stretching sessions, and weekly Toolbox talks.
  • Complete daily record keeping, including logs, equipment and material schedules, and timecards.
  • Manage field personnel fairly and equitably, addressing performance issues promptly.
  • Participate in pre‑construction meetings to discuss start‑up and project planning.
  • Provide regular job site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Document and report safety incidents, equipment damage, and workplace injuries per company policies.
  • Inspect field work and materials for quality compliance and review manufacturer literature and drawings before work begins.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
  • Attend and support training opportunities for construction methods and safety.
  • Keep the supervisor informed of known actions or circumstances that may affect job performance or company operations.
Qualifications
  • Two to five years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • OSHA 10‑hour (preferred), OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, and First Aid certifications.
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting policies, reports, construction plans, specifications, and legal documents.
  • Proficient with Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, including the ability to speak before groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage staff equitably.
  • Mathematical proficiency with fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions applied to field quantities.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capacity to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
Supervisory Responsibility
  • Directly manage lead personnel and staff at each project site.
  • Lead safety initiatives across multiple service groups.
  • Provide guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Hire, train, develop, and conduct disciplinary action on direct reports in accordance with company policy.
Additional Requirements
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record.
  • Work 8–10 hour days, including occasional weekends as needed.
  • Minimum age 18 and willingness to join the union.
Physical Demands

Perform manual work requiring extensive physical exertion, lift or move up to 50 pounds, often sit, stand, walk, bend, stretch, kneel, and be exposed to variable weather, machinery, loud noises, odors, dust, and occasional electrical hazards.

Work Environment

Work on-site near machinery, in variable weather conditions, and in various terrains, with environmental exposure typical of construction sites.

Compensation and Benefits

Base hourly rate varies by location, applicant skills, and experience. Union craft workers receive benefits such as 401(k) and an Employee Assistance Program.
