Job Description

The Superintendent/Foreman oversees daily site operations for Earthwork projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards, design specifications, budget constraints, and project timelines. This role directly manages lead personnel and on‑site staff to drive efficiency and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Communicate daily with General Superintendents and job‑site crews to coordinate workforce, equipment, and schedule needs.
  • Schedule and monitor subcontractors to ensure work meets contractual agreements.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by identifying hazards, taking corrective actions, and leading daily Job Hazard Awareness meetings and weekly Tool Box topics.
  • Complete daily record keeping: logs, equipment schedules, material schedules, and timecards.
  • Manage field personnel fairly and equitably, addressing performance issues promptly.
  • Participate in pre‑construction meetings, project planning, and regular job‑site meetings throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide accurate documentation for safety reporting, equipment damage, and workplace injuries.
  • Ensure work follows specified quality standards through inspections and review of manufacturer literature and drawings.
  • Respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or community members.
  • Support ongoing training for construction methods and safety and mentor staff.
Supervisor Responsibilities
  • Directly manage each project site’s lead personnel and staff.
  • Lead safety initiatives across multiple service groups.
  • Provide leadership and supervision in a fair, equitable manner, complying with all policies and regulations.
  • Oversee mentoring, training, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions per company policy.
Qualifications
  • Two to five years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • OSHA 10‑hour (preferred but not required), OSHA 30‑hour, HAZWOPER, Excavating Safety Training, Blueprint Training, CPR, First Aid.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction plans, specifications, policies, and legal documents.
  • Proficiency with Outlook, Word, Excel, iPad, and iPhone.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with employees, clients, and business associates.
  • Interpersonal and presentation skills for group and individual settings.
  • Mathematical skills: fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions applied to field quantity situations.
  • Problem‑solving ability: define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Capability to interpret technical instructions in diagram or written form and manage multiple variables.
  • Capability to perform all essential duties and responsibilities satisfactorily.
Other Requirements
  • Pass a pre‑employment drug test and background check.
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license and satisfactory motor‑vehicle record.
  • Work 8–10‑hour days and occasional weekends as needed.
  • Must be over 18 years of age.
  • Union affiliation or willingness to join the union is required.
Physical Demands

Must perform manual work with periods of extensive physical exertion, including lifting or moving up to 50 pounds. Requires sitting, standing, walking, bending knees, stretching arms, stooping, kneeling, speaking, and hearing. Exposure to moving machinery, loud noises, odors, dust, electrical hazards, and variable weather conditions. Hearing and eye protection are provided.
