Job description

A Top 20 ENR General Contractor is seeking an experienced Traveling Superintendent to support the delivery of large-scale, mission-critical data center projects throughout the United States. This position will provide field leadership for the Civil, Structural, and Architectural (CSA) scope of complex hyperscale and mission-critical facilities.

The ideal candidate is a proven construction leader with extensive experience managing large, technically complex projects in fast-paced environments. The Superintendent will be responsible for leading field execution, managing subcontractor performance, maintaining project schedules, enforcing safety and quality standards, and representing the company’s commitment to operational excellence.

This role requires a highly organized, safety-focused professional capable of operating independently while collaborating with project executives, owners, design teams, trade partners, and client stakeholders.

Responsibilities
  • Provide overall field supervision and leadership for CSA construction activities on mission-critical data center projects.
  • Manage daily site operations, ensuring work is executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with contract documents, project schedules, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Lead coordination efforts among subcontractors, vendors, consultants, inspectors, and client representatives.
  • Drive project execution from mobilization through completion, including site development, foundations, structural systems, building envelope, interiors, and architectural finishes.
  • Review drawings, specifications, RFIs, submittals, and change documentation to proactively identify conflicts and maintain project momentum.
  • Develop and maintain short-term execution plans, manpower forecasts, and look-ahead schedules.
  • Conduct daily field observations, coordination meetings, safety walks, and quality inspections.
  • Ensure subcontractors meet project milestones, productivity expectations, and contractual requirements.
  • Partner with the Project Manager and project leadership team to identify risks, develop solutions, and maintain overall project objectives.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including daily reports, progress tracking, inspection records, and field directives.
  • Support commissioning, turnover, and closeout activities by ensuring CSA scopes are complete, documented, and aligned with client requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement across the project team.
Qualifications
  • 7+ years of commercial construction experience with a minimum of 5 years in a Superintendent role.
  • Demonstrated experience managing large-scale data center, mission-critical, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, advanced manufacturing, or similarly complex projects.
  • Strong background overseeing CSA construction scopes on projects valued at $100M+ preferred.
  • Experience working for a major general contractor or construction management firm preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead multiple subcontractors and coordinate complex construction activities in a high-performance environment.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction means and methods, sequencing, logistics planning, and field operations.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze contract documents, drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA standards, site safety practices, and quality assurance/quality control processes.
  • Experience with construction management platforms such as Procore, Autodesk Build, Bluebeam, or similar systems.
  • Exceptional communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel extensively and support project assignments across multiple regions.
Preferred Experience
  • Previous delivery experience on hyperscale data center campuses for major technology clients.
  • Industrial tilt wall construction experience will be considered in lieu of direct data center or mission-critical project experience.
  • Experience managing fast-track construction schedules and complex stakeholder environments.
  • Experience coordinating with mission-critical MEP teams while leading CSA execution.
  • Knowledge of data center construction standards, commissioning requirements, and turnover processes.
  • Experience working in a collaborative project environment with owners, architects, engineers, and trade partners.
Travel Requirements
