Job summary

iENG Design, located in Chesterfield, MO, seeks a Traveling Senior Project Manager to lead complex mechanical and plumbing projects across multiple sites. You will manage budgets, schedules, and client relations, traveling 3–4 weeks at a time and coordinating with engineering, subcontractors, and owners.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management (or proven working experience).
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and Piping Systems, building products, construction details/design and standards.
• Familiarity with construction management software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, BlueBeam, P6, Microsoft Project, Viewpoint, Autodesk).
• Self-motivated with excellent time, leadership, and project management skills.
• Ability to travel home every 3-4 weeks for 2-3 days.
• Ability to work 6 days a week with 10-hour shifts on-site.

Responsibilities

• Manage and lead complex mechanical projects (HVAC, plumbing) from start to finish within budget and schedule.
• Lead all project team members and subcontractors with clear communication.
• Ensure site safety plans, audits, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning are followed.
• Coordinate with Engineering, VDC (BIM), Scheduling, subcontractors, and customers to develop drawings and build plans.
• Ensure plans and submittals are followed and RFIs are addressed.
• Coach Project Managers to support development and project execution.
• Develop and manage Bid Packages for subcontractors.
• Vet and coordinate subcontractors, issue contracts, manage changes, and integrate schedules.
• Develop and maintain advanced project schedules for all contracted scopes.
• Manage project financials, budgeting, forecasting from start to finish.
• Maintain relationships with Owners, General Contractors, Vendors, and Subcontractors.
• Ensure contractual performance conditions are met.

We are currently looking for a Senior Project Manager to join our National Project Management team located at our office in Chesterfield, MO. Our ideal candidate for a Traveling Senior Project Manager is someone who has 5 – 8 years of experience as a Mechanical, Plumbing and/or General Construction Project Manager. This person will be responsible for managing complex mechanical and plumbing projects, ensuring timely, budget-compliant, and satisfactory completion. They will be personable, have high energy, and will bring a strong sense of ownership, leadership, direction, and commitment to our projects.

Primary Responsibilities for iENG’s Traveling Senior Project Manager include:

• Managing and leading complex mechanical projects involving HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical pipe systems from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of our clients.
• Leading all project team members and subcontractors through clear, effective communication.
• Ensuring site safety compliance and requirements are executed – including, but not limited to, site specific safety plans, audits, pick plans, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning.
• Coordinating with the Engineering, VDC (BIM), Scheduling, subcontractor and customers to develop permit drawings, update progress drawings, generate record drawings, and establish the overall build plan for the project scope.
• Ensuring that the plans, specifications, details of the project, and materials are delivered and installed in accordance with the approved submittals and RFIs.
• Managing and coaching Project Managers to support professional development and consistent project execution.
• Developing and managing Bid Packages for prospective subcontractors.
• Vetting, selecting and coordinating subcontractors by defining scope of work, preparing and issuing contracts, managing changes, and integrating subcontractor schedules.
• Developing and maintaining advanced project schedules for all contracted scopes of work.
• Managing the project financials, including budgeting and forecasting of the project from start to finish.
• Developing and maintaining relationships with key clients, including Owners, General Contractors, Vendors and Subcontractors.
• Ensuring all contractual performance conditions are met throughout project execution.

Primary Qualifications for iENG’s Traveling Senior Project Manager include:

• 5 + years of experience as a Project Manager in Mechanical, Plumbing, and/or General Construction, preferably in a multi-site or traveling capacity, is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or proven working experience in the Mechanical Construction industry is required.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC and Piping Systems, building products, construction details/design and relevant rules, regulations, and quality standards.
• Familiarity with construction management software packages (Microsoft Office Suite, ProCore, BlueBeam, P6, Microsoft Project, Viewpoint is preferred, and Autodesk is a plus) – overall strong computer skills are preferred.
• Self-motivated with excellent time, leadership, and project management skills.
• Possesses a strong personal commitment for long-term and meaningful goals.
• Demonstrates confidence in their knowledge and is committed to researching the answers to find the right solutions for things they do not know.
• Ability to work 6 days a week with 10-hour shifts each day.
• Ability to be on site at the jobsite location for duration of the project.
• Eligibility to travel home every 3-4 weeks for 2-3 days.
