Job summary

iENG Design is seeking a VDC Specialist - Mechanical Plumbing to join our VDC team. The role focuses on wiring detailed spool drawings, hanger maps, and model integration for complex projects in institutional, commercial and industrial markets.

You will collaborate with engineers and designers, model plumbing systems from P&IDs, and provide technical support through project lifecycles. A degree or equivalent experience is preferred and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in applied science or equivalent experience preferred.
• 1-3 years experience in plumbing design, VDC, or related field.
• Knowledge of IPC, UPC or plumbing codes.

Responsibilities

• Generate detailed deliverables: spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
• Collaborate with engineers and designers to ensure proper integration of plumbing systems in the building model.
• Model plumbing systems from P&IDs, design drawings or engineering markups.
• Provide technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC issues and assisting with revisions.
• Develop hanger and fabrication plans for supports and related elements.
• Support field and shop operations through the project lifecycle.
• Review modeling for accuracy, codes, specs and standards.

Primary responsibilities for iENG’s VDC Specialist include:

• Generating detailed deliverables such as spool drawings/maps, installation drawings, and hanger maps.
• Collaborating with engineers, designers, and other team members to ensure accurate and efficient integration of plumbing systems within the overall building model.
• Designing and modeling plumbing systems based off P&IDs, Design drawings or Engineering markups.
• Providing technical support to project teams by troubleshooting VDC-related issues and assisting with model revisions as needed.
• Developing hanger and supplemental steel layout and fabrication plans.
• Supporting the field and shop operations through the project lifecycle.
• Reviewing and ensuring the accuracy of modeling and design work, adhering to project codes, specifications and standards.

Primary qualifications for iENG’s VDC Specialist include:

• An associate’s degree in applied science and/or equivalent relevant experience in CAD Drafting, engineering, construction management, or a similar field is preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience plumbing design, VDC, or a related field.
• Knowledge of IPC, UPC or other plumbing codes.
• Familiarity with REVIT, AutoCAD, Autodesk Construction Cloud, Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Planner. Overall strong computer skills are expected.
• Willing to travel on an as needed basis for project needs and team collaboration.
• The ability to work within an environment with deadlines, and when tasked with multiple duties your attention to detail stays consistent.
• Strong work ethic with the capability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency in identifying potential problems or risks and developing creative solutions.

Compensation and Benefits:
