Job summary

hth companies, a Midwest-based industrial services provider, seeks a Traveling Safety Manager based out of Hannibal, MO. This role requires frequent travel (about 70%) to ensure safety compliance across sites, develop and deliver training, and lead safety initiatives.

You will advise the Corporate Office, coordinate with site supervision, perform audits, maintain records, and help upgrade safety programs while meeting OSHA, MSHA, and DOT requirements.

Qualifications

• Experience with OSHA regulatory requirements and training related to construction and industrial operations.
• Minimum of 3 years' experience in a direct Safety role.
• Experience in writing reports and business correspondence, in addition to effectively presenting information and responding to questions from senior management, site supervision, clients, and employees.
• Experience in industrial settings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advises the Corporate Office on safety compliance concerns and preventative actions.
• Assist Corporate Safety and Site Superintendent in ensuring compliance and training of safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations, including OSHA, MSHA, and DOT.
• Travels to various locations as needed.
• Work with Site Supervision to anticipate upcoming PPE needs and training
• Works with Site Supervision to plan training.
• Conducts training for employees in work site safety practices including new hire orientations and job specific tasks.
• Verify Job Hazard Analyses (JHA's) and any required work permits are completed and hazards mitigated.
• Hold daily safety meetings with all employees and maintain weekly summary logs.
• Conduct audits to verify employees are educated in hazards and that JHA's are completed and hazards eliminated.
• Maintains safety files, records, and reports.
• Ensure that incidents, near misses, safety infractions/violations are reported and investigated in a timely manner.
• Perform safety hazard assessments, inspections, and surveys with written reports and corrective actions.
• Conduct observation audits to improve safe work practices.
• Coach personnel to identify hazards and implement corrective measures.
• Report all near misses and incidents to the Safety Director.
• Attend weekly Supervisor safety training meetings and monthly Safety Manager meetings.
• Understand regulations applicable to the work performed.
• Assist in development, evaluation, and upgrading of safety programs.
• Support corporate office in non-safety duties.
