Job summary

Baby-Friendly USA, Inc. is seeking an Assessor to conduct visits to birthing facilities for BF designation and re-designation, gathering data via interviews, materials review, and observations, and compiling reports aligned with US Guidelines and Evaluation Criteria.

Preference for candidates near major airport hubs, with travel flexibility; role requires in-person assessments and/or virtual assessments as needed across the United States.

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure with at least five (5) years clinical experience in a hospital/birthing center maternity unit.
• Successful completion of a 45-hour breastfeeding management course is required; IBCLC is a preferred certification and CLC is accepted.
• Lactation certifications must be retained and/or evidence of 35 hours of CERPS within a 5-year period of time.
• Proof of current valid and unrestricted U.S. driver’s license, clean driving record and proof of auto insurance may be requested.
• Immunizations up to date (proof may be required).
• Drug test results may be required.

Responsibilities

• Travel to birthing facilities located in various locations throughout the U.S. and its territories to conduct assessments.
• Conduct on-site and virtual facility assessments following established protocols to evaluate Baby-Friendly designation criteria.
• Gather data through interviews, material reviews, and observations; document observations and facts.
• Be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; communicate with administrators, staff, and mothers with cultural sensitivity.
• Maintain travel schedule and be available for multiple consecutive days of assessments each month.
• Comply with BFUSA security and confidentiality policies and report conflicts of interest.
