Job summary

Quantum Industrial Services is seeking a Traveling Quality Control Specialist to ensure welding, fabrication and mechanical work meet project specs across multiple states. The role works with field teams, Project Managers, customers and inspectors to maintain quality from installation through turnover.

Requirements include AWS CWI certification and 3–5+ years welding inspection experience in fabrication or mechanical environments, with the ability to travel frequently.

Qualifications

  • AWS CWI certification is required.
  • 3–5+ years of welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, piping, or mechanical environments.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across multiple states.

Responsibilities

  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies.
  • Verify materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements.
  • Monitor welding and fabrication activities for compliance with AWS, ASME, and project specifications.
  • Coordinate and support NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT).
  • Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and turnover documentation.
  • Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records.
  • Review drawings, specifications, WPS, PQRs, and project quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to resolve quality concerns.

What You’ll Do
  • Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies
  • Verify materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements

  • Assist with inspections, turnover, and project closeout
What You’ll Bring
  • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
  • 3–5+ years of welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, piping, or mechanical environments
  • Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and ASME B31.1/B31.3
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation
  • Familiarity with NDT methods preferred
  • Strong understanding of quality control processes and documentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively
