Job summary

Quantum Industrial Services is seeking a Traveling Quality Control Specialist to perform welding inspections across multiple states on large-scale projects. You will verify materials, WPS/PQR compliance, and coordinate NDT activities while supporting field teams, project managers, customers, and inspectors to ensure quality from installation through turnover.

Qualifications

• AWS CWI certification is required.
• 3–5+ years welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, piping, or mechanical environments.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and ASME B31.1/B31.3.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation.
• Familiarity with NDT methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabrications.
• Verify materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements.
• Monitor welding and fabrication activities for AWS/ASME and project specifications.
• Coordinate and support NDT activities (UT, MT, PT, RT).
• Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and turnover documentation.
• Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records.
• Review drawings, specifications, WPS, PQRs, and project quality requirements.
• Collaborate with fabrication teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to resolve quality concerns.
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote a strong safety culture.

About The Role

The Traveling Quality Control Specialist ensures welding, fabrication, and mechanical work meets project specifications, applicable codes, and company quality standards. This role supports large‑scale industrial projects across multiple states and works closely with field teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to maintain quality from installation through turnover.

What You’ll Do

• Perform visual and dimensional inspections of welds and fabricated assemblies
• Verify materials, welding consumables, and compliance with WPS requirements
• Monitor welding and fabrication activities for compliance with AWS, ASME, and project specifications
• Coordinate and support NDT activities, including UT, MT, PT, and RT
• Maintain inspection reports, quality records, NCRs, and turnover documentation
• Witness welder qualification testing and maintain welder continuity records
• Review drawings, specifications, WPS, PQRs, and project quality requirements
• Work with fabrication teams, Project Managers, customers, and inspectors to resolve quality concerns
• Support quality improvement initiatives and promote a strong safety culture
• Assist with inspections, turnover, and project closeout

What You’ll Bring

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification required
• 3–5+ years of welding inspection experience in fabrication, structural steel, piping, or mechanical environments
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, ASME Section IX, and ASME B31.1/B31.3
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, WPS, and PQR documentation
• Familiarity with NDT methods preferred
• Strong understanding of quality control processes and documentation
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office
• Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability and willingness to travel extensively
