Job summary

Topeka Public Schools seeks a traveling Pre-K EL Teacher to support English learners across multiple sites. The role emphasizes standards-based instruction, data-driven planning, and collaborative work with EL staff.

The teacher will travel between locations, deliver differentiated lessons, assess English proficiency, and communicate with families to promote student success in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Kansas Teacher's Certificate with ESOL Endorsement.
• ESOL Endorsement or ESOL Plan on File required.
• Credential file meets Topeka Public Schools standards.
• Experience with English Learners preferred.
• Ability to travel between locations; mileage reimbursement provided.

Responsibilities

• Travel to multiple locations to instruct Pre-K EL students.
• Prepare differentiated instructional materials for EL students.
• Assist the general education classroom teacher with individualizing instruction for EL students.
• Assess students’ English proficiency using state-approved assessments.
• Work with individual EL students and small groups.
• Provide a language acquisition program for each student.
• Communicate with parents regarding student’s progress and foster home relationships.
• Communicate high expectations for all learners.
• Collaborate with EL coaches routinely.
• Use research-based instructional practices to support goals and student needs.
• Model higher-order thinking, problem solving, and creativity.
