Job summary

Kiewit is seeking an experienced Piping Superintendent to lead field teams on industrial piping projects across our district. You will supervise piping foremen and craft workers, coordinate with engineering and project teams, and ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence on self-performed projects.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in self-perform construction, with 3+ years in a Superintendent role, and a strong track record in heavy industrial environments such as refineries or plants.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' work experience in the self-perform construction industry, with at least 3+ years in a Superintendent role overseeing piping/mechanical craft employees.
• Understanding of state license requirements for journeymen to apprentice ratios for piping work in a given state.
• 3+ years of piping construction experience.
• Advanced knowledge of safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, drawings, procurement, and estimating.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance effectively.
• Strong leadership, initiative, and ability to mentor and grow staff.
• Commitment to safety and injury prevention across projects.
• Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the piping scope of a project as the Superintendent, managing foremen and piping craft workers to drive productivity, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
• Serve as liaison between field engineering and craft, ensuring compliance with drawings, specs, and installation standards.
• Coordinate with other superintendents, subcontractors, inspection agencies, clients, and leadership to maintain workflow and schedule alignment.
• Resolve employee conflicts, grievances, and scheduling challenges, escalating as needed.
• Assist in project planning, including schedules, craft labor needs, material quantities, and equipment for piping systems.
• Ensure project rules and safety programs are followed per company policies.
• Establish and manage budget expectations for piping, promoting a safety-focused culture.
• Set and enforce quality standards and ensure inspections and testing are properly scheduled and executed.
