Job summary

Kiewit Industrial District in Houston seeks an experienced Piping Superintendent to lead field teams on self-performed projects, overseeing piping installation and construction. You will supervise craft workers, coach personnel, and collaborate with engineering to address piping challenges in heavy industrial settings such as refineries and petrochemical plants.

Travel across the United States is required; the role offers per diem, trips home, and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' work experience in the self-perform construction industry, with at least 3+ years in a Superintendent role.
• Understanding of state license requirements for journeymen to apprentice ratios for piping work.
• 3+ years of piping construction experience.
• Advanced knowledge of safety, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, procurement, and estimating.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise and evaluate craft performance.
• Strong leadership and mentoring abilities; excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the piping scope of a project as the Superintendent, managing foremen and piping craft workers to drive productivity, safety, quality and schedule adherence.
• Coordinate with field engineering and craft to ensure drawings, specs, and installation standards are followed; partner with PM/CM and technical teams.
• Interface with subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and leadership to maintain workflow and schedule alignment across disciplines.
• Resolve workforce conflicts and scheduling challenges; escalate to leadership when needed.
• Assist in planning, including schedules, labor needs, quantities, and equipment for piping systems.
• Enforce safety procedures and company policies; promote a strong safety culture on site.
• Develop and manage lookahead schedules, coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers, and ensure inspections and testing are scheduled.
• Establish and manage budget expectations for piping work and ensure cost control.
