Job summary

Scripps Clinic Labs is seeking a Phlebotomist to support patient care across multiple locations in San Diego. You will perform phlebotomy, ensure proper specimen collection, labeling, and transport, and adhere to safety protocols in a fast-paced hospital environment.

The ideal candidate has phlebotomy certification, knowledge of medical terminology, and strong communication skills. Ability to travel between Scripps Clinic locations and work a full-time schedule with rotating weekends is required.

Qualifications

• Proficient with medical terminology and hospital computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Respond to life critical situations such as Trauma and Code Sepsis.
• Collect samples following time-sensitive priorities (STAT, Timed, routine).
• Observe aseptic technique and isolation procedures as indicated.
• Clarify unclear orders and document ABN necessity when needed.
• Identify patients before collection and label samples accurately.
• Perform phlebotomy via venipuncture or capillary puncture for all ages.
